Johnstone Church | Find a Christian Fellowship Near You

Glasgow Church of Christ is a non-denominational Jesus focussed Bible-believing fellowship. We are devoted to the teachings of the Bible and to live out our faith on this earth expressed practically through our love for God, his Word, each other and individuals in our neighbourhood and beyond. We consider ourselves to be a restoration movement, which is reflected in how we are committed to reaching out within our neighbourhood and sharing our faith, so as to reach others for Christ.

As a church we are very diverse yet close-knit, with families, students and singles from all walks of life and we affiliate with ICC Missions family of churches in the UK and worldwide we affiliate with the International Churches of Christ.

St Mungo’s legacy in Glasgow is one that has grown and evolved for many years. As a church, we believe that Johnstone can still flourish through the preaching of God’s word and the application of the Scriptures in our daily lives. Our goal has always been to spread God’s love to others, and by showing our faith through deeds and actions, we aim to assist others to discover the purpose and dream that God has for them.

As a congregation, we rely on God’s capability to transform us in work, relationships, and our family lives by accepting our willingness to accept His forgiveness.

It might be intimidating to study the Bible by yourself, especially if you are new to it. But much like any other relationship, developing a true understanding of the Scriptures requires time, effort, and genuine interaction. In order to help you explore the Bible we have produced a series of topical Bible-studies that covers topics like:

Faith – How is faith defined in the Bible, how does it function in my life, how does it affect my choices, and how does it relate to my relationship with God?

Seeking God – Why should I pursue a relationship with God, what does that look like, and what does it mean?

The Word of God – How the Bible is the divine authority of God and how can we utilize it in our daily lives? This will help us live lives of stability, purpose, and hope for the future.

Jesus – His identity, His character, His love, His conviction, His mission and His sacrifice. How he lived, his focus, his vision, his heart, how he conquered temptations, hurt, ridicule, betrayal, worry, suffering. How he is the hope we all so frantically need.

Discipleship – How we are not just called to baptise but also to help individuals grow, training and gearing up others in following Jesus, and satisfying the dream Jesus has for us.

Sin/conviction – Comprehending and accepting the reality of our issues that separate us from God, how it hurts us and our hopes, dreams and relationships.

The Cross – Understanding Jesus’ sacrifice, the supreme act of grace and love, his death, burial and resurrection and how it solves our problem with our sin that separates us from him.

Repentance – Helping us to heal from our sin and becoming more of who we are indicated to be by understanding the power the Gospel has and the power we have to transform our frame of mind.

Baptism – How we receive the Holy Spirit as a gift, which empowers us to live a renewed life as we are forgiven of our sins and free from what entangles us from living a life to the full.

The Holy Spirit – How the Holy Spirit operates in a Christian’s life and how we allow him to continue working in us as we mimic Jesus’ love, service, and sacrifice.

The Church – Realising your purpose in God’s plan and the true significance of “church”, not as a building or cathedral, but as a family of believers, devoted to love, serve, forgive, motivate, lay down our lives and share our hearts and possessions with one another.

Johnstone Family Friendly Church for All Ages

As Christians we believe Christianity is for everybody regardless of age, social status, education, cultural background and heritage. We are a diverse church with members varying from 14 years old as dedicated baptised disciples to 80 years and over. As we consider church to be like family we live and learn from each other, both in committing to and complying with the Scriptures and through following Jesus learning every day to become more like him in his ideas, actions, options, love and grace. No matter age, we believe we are to serve one another as Jesus served others and minister to each other through discipling relationships. We see from Scriptures that Christianity very much is a “one-another” religion, sharing a common faith and common love for God and each other.
