Glasgow Church of Christ is built on the belief that we are all called to spread the good news as widely as possible. This is our mission, our calling, and the purpose and strategy that God has for our lives.. As all of us come from very different backgrounds and have been influenced in various ways, we all need to study the Bible for ourselves and make up our own mind regarding the calling from God’s word; the calling to redemption and change through his word and holy spirit.
Our study series is created specifically to do just that, assisting those seeking answers in the Bible. These studies are not exhaustive, but a guide, and we will consider the needs of whomever we are trying to help in Pollokshields depending upon spiritual and personal background. We do not believe “one size fits all”, but we do believe there is worth in understanding the essential significance of what it means to be a real disciple and follower of Jesus, and how we can apply that to our lives. Studying the Bible will give you a different point of view on your own life and that of others, as it will be focused on what pleases God instead of self.
We advise you to purchase a Bible if you do not currently have one! There are a terrific variety on the market; a study bible offers you comprehensive commentary, with insights from Bible scholars that might help you tighten your grasp of the Word and how to apply it. As an alternative, you could use a bible online or download a bible app, both of which supply bible study materials and a variety of different subjects.

The Bible is the Word of God, written to assist and inform us on His will. We believe that it should be the ultimate authority in our lives and how we see God. God wants us all to be saved and has called us through his Gospel and convicts us through his Spirit of our sin, righteousness and judgement. An individual’s life is affected by a lot of variables, but we believe the ultimate flexibility is found in the eternal word of God.
If you discover that you are struggling to engage with the Scriptures and Bible as a whole, we highly urge you to contact us. It can be useful to begin seeking the truth of the whole Bible by hanging around with others who have been on the exact same journey. You might even feel you do not have any faith at all, but the Bible will teach you even that. So start digging by studying the Bible with us.
Document any questions you have so that we may talk about them and look for answers in scriptural bibles. We may not have all the answers, but we can show you where to begin trying to find them in the Bible! We can supply you guidance on how to study effectively, recommend which biblical books to start with, discuss how to check out and comprehend a particular verse, and recommend subjects for topical studies, book studies, character studies, and other kinds of studies. Tools are even available to help the layperson to understand the original Greek.

Join A Bible Discussion Group in the Pollokshields Area
We often get together in smaller sized groups to support, uplift, inform, empower, and lead one another. We also hold Bible conversations or life discussions in these groups, which are modelled after the discussion groups Paul established in Ephesus (Acts 19:9 -10). These talks are engaging and a wonderful location for talking about God’s Word and how each participant can apply it in their personal lives.
During these discussions we grow near God by sharing insights from Scripture and our own experiences. The discussion subjects are quite diverse and as they are broad discussions about life, they may consist of things like communication, dispute resolution, what makes you happy, hope, customs, and so on. As we have a number of groups in Pollokshields, do get in contact to discover your regional discussion group.
Find out about The Life Of Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He lived amongst us as a man, before being killed unjustly. Our mission is to help you develop your own conviction and respect for the life of Jesus and obtain insight into his sovereignty and significance. To help you acquire a firm grasp of who Jesus was and how he lived, we have produced a bible study specifically on Jesus.
We believe that Jesus came to make the Father known and his heart, life and purpose are possibly best summed up from John 1:14 & John 1:17, which describe him as “full of grace and truth” and that he “brought grace and truth”. This is the essence of who he was and what he did.

Find Out How To Become A Christian In Pollokshields
The only thing that can seem more complicated than being a Christian in this day and age is how to turn into one. Many churches will welcome you without teaching you what discipleship truly entails or what God’s expectations are. We believe that being a Christian is the same as being a disciple as shown by the Scriptures, and as disciples study the Bible, the Holy Spirit convicts us concerning righteousness (John 16:8). If Jesus came to save us from our sin, why wouldn’t we wish to follow him and be his disciple? Being a disciple means doing so on His terms, nevertheless, and these terms are expressed most plainly in the Holy Bible.
Pollokshields Alpha Course Alternative
As disciples, our mission is to spread the good news. After all, why wouldn’t you if you know it to be the truth! 1 Peter 3:15 tells us to always be prepared to offer an answer to anybody for the hope we have in Him. We have for that reason developed a Bible study series of topical studies provided to assist the student in their own discovery of the Word, which we call “Guard the Gospel. As you study God’s word and grow in your understanding of it, we pray that you will find these resources useful in your own spiritual journey.
The subjects we cover are:
Seeking God – Establish a hunter’s heart via prayer and bible passage study to learn how to pursue a relationship with God.
Jesus – who is He, what life did He live, why did He come? How is it relevant to me today?
The Word of God – How the Bible is the ultimate authority and standard for our lives. The Word study will help you establish that both the old testament and the new testament is tantamount to the breath of God.
Discipleship – What a Christian is from the Bible, and how the only appropriate response to Jesus’ death on our behalf should be to follow God through following His Son. Anything less lowers the sacrifice He made for us.
Sin – Understanding how God sees us; separated from him because of our sin. Also understanding sin’s consequences. Just if we truly view and repent of sin, can we get grace.
The Cross – The present of grace and the cost of grace. Our role in Jesus’ death on the cross; and how the cross is what offers us hope once we understand our need for grace.
Repentance – What scriptural repentance really means as originated from Greek “metanoia”, indicating modification in mindset; how to welcome it and see it as one of the most positive words in the bible.
Baptism – How baptism establishes the link between Christ’s sacrifice and forgiveness of our sins. We are forgiven by the sacrifice of Christ, but this happens at the point of baptism. Baptism is the participation in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.
The Church – God’s vision for his church, how we as followers of Christ associate with one another as his new holy community. Being his family is belonging of a group of disciples who share our commitment to him, accepting obligation for one another, and supporting one another in preserving a strong relationship with God. We are a spiritual temple for God, not a physical one.
The Holy Spirit – After baptism, the Holy Spirit will sustain us and help us remain true to our confession to the end.
These are just a few of the studies we can offer though the list is not exhaustive and we can offer in depth bible study on any particular subjects you might want to find answers to. There might be a particular word or some key verses or other portions of the Bible you ‘d like to talk about with us. Regardless, we want to meet you and share the good news and follow the example of Jesus in his love, life and service for others.
