Bible Discussion Mearns

At Glasgow Church of Christ, we believe that we are all called to share the good news with others. This is our mission, our calling, and the purpose and plan that God has for our lives.. As all of us come from very different backgrounds and have been affected in different ways, we all need to study the Bible for ourselves and make up our own mind regarding the calling from God’s word; the calling to redemption and transformation through his word and holy spirit.

Our study series is designed precisely to do just that, directing those seeking answers in the Bible. These studies are just a guide; we will take into account the requirements of those we are attempting to help in Mearns based upon their religious and social backgrounds. Although we do not hold to the notion that “one size fits all,” we do think it is important to understand the essence of what it means to be a genuine disciple and follower of Jesus and how we may apply it to our lives in Mearns. As it is centred on what pleases God rather than self, studying the Bible will offer you a different perspective on your own life and the lives of others.

We highly advise getting a Bible if you don’t currently have one! There are a tonne of options offered; a study bible offers you with in-depth commentary and insights from Bible scholars that might help you better comprehend the Scriptures and how to apply them in your own life. You don’t even need to own a physical bible. There are various online bibles, apps,. and study resources on a nearly endless choice of topics and resources.

Learn How to Read & Study The Bible in Mearns

We believe that the Bible should be the ultimate authority in our lives. After all, it is the Word of God composed for us. Through his Gospel, God calls us and wants us all to be saved and through his Spirit, he convicts us of our sin, righteousness, and judgement. The ultimate freedom in a person’s life is found in the eternal word of God, no matter the number of variables affect their life.

If you are struggling to get into the Scriptures and the Bible as a whole, we recommend you to reach out to us. Seeking the truth of the Bible can be a lot less daunting when you are doing so with others at the very same phase of the journey or have been on a similar journey in the past. You may even feel you do not have any faith at all, but the Bible will teach you even that. So begin digging by studying the Bible with us.

Document any questions you have so we may debate them and seek the truth in scriptural verses. We might not have all the answers, but we can show you where to begin looking for them in the Bible! We can provide you suggestions on how to study efficiently, which bible books to start with, how to read and understand a certain scripture, give concepts for a book study, character study, topical studies and so on. Tools are even available to help the layperson to understand the original Greek.

Join A Bible Discussion Group in the Mearns Area

We routinely get together in smaller sized groups for shared support, inspiration, direction, training, and guidance. In these groups we also have Bible discussions or life talks, influenced by how Paul had discussion groups in Ephesus (Acts 19:9 -10). These discussions are amazing and a terrific location to come together and talk about God’s Word and its personal application.

During these conversations we grow near to God by sharing insights from Scripture and our own experiences. The discussion topics are very diverse and as it is general talks about life a subject could be about communication, conflict resolution, what makes you happy, hope, customs, etc. As we have numerous groups in Mearns, do get in contact to find your local discussion group.

Learn About The Life Of Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He lived among us as a man, before being killed unjustly. Our mission is to help you construct your own conviction and respect for the life of Jesus and get insight into his sovereignty and importance. To help you acquire a firm grasp of who Jesus was and how he lived, we have produced a bible study exclusively on Jesus.

We hold that Jesus came to reveal the Father, and John 1:14 and John 1:17, which characterise him as “full of grace and truth” and that he “brought grace and truth,” are possibly the best summaries of his heart, life, and mission. This is the essence of who he was and what he did.

Discover How To Become A Christian In Mearns

The only thing that can seem more complicated than being a Christian in this day and age is how to become one. Many churches will invite you without teaching you what discipleship genuinely entails or what God’s expectations are. We believe that being a Christian is the same as being a disciple as proved by the Scriptures, and as disciples study the Bible, the Holy Spirit convicts us concerning righteousness (John 16:8). Why would we not follow Jesus and become his disciple, if he came to save us from our sin? Being a disciple means doing so on His terms, however, and these terms are expressed most plainly in the Holy Bible.

Mearns Alpha Course Alternative

As disciples we are called to share the good news to others. After all, why wouldn’t you if you think it is the truth! According to 1 Peter 3:15, we should continuously be ready to solution to anybody for the hope that we have in Him. As a result, we have developed “Guard the Gospel,” a Bible study series of topical studies supplied to help the student in their own discovery of the Word. We hope you will discover these helpful in your own faith journey as you study god’s word, and in your knowing process establish your own faith and convictions.

The topics we cover are:

Seeking God – Develop an applicant’s heart via prayer and bible passage study to learn how to pursue a relationship with God.

Jesus – who is He, what life did He live, why did He come? How is it pertinent to me today?

The Word of God – How the Bible should be our ultimate source of guidance and ethical recommendations. The word study will help you in demonstrating that the example between the ancient and new testaments and the breath of God is precise.

Discipleship – What a Christian is according to the Bible, and how complying with God by following His Son is the only appropriate response to Jesus’ dying on our behalf. Anything less decreases the cost He paid to save us.

Sin – Understanding how God sees us; separated from him because of our sin. Also understanding sin’s consequences. Just if we really view and repent of sin, can we get grace.

The Cross – The present of grace and the cost of grace. Our function in Jesus’ death on the cross; and how the cross is what offers us hope once we understand our requirement for grace.

Repentance – What biblical repentance really means as derived from Greek “metanoia”, meaning modification in state of mind; how to embrace it and see it as one of the most positive words in the bible.

Baptism – How baptism establishes the link between Christ’s sacrifice and forgiveness of our sins. We are forgiven by the sacrifice of Christ, but this occurs at the point of baptism. Baptism is the involvement in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.

The Church – God’s vision for his church, how we as followers of Christ associate with one another as his new holy neighborhood. It has to do with being his family, being participated in by a team of similar disciples in our dedication for him, taking responsibility for one another, helping each other stay close to God as we are a spiritual temple for God, not a physical one.

The Holy Spirit – After our baptism, the Holy Spirit will continue to support us and help us stick to our confession until the very end.

These are just a few of the studies we can offer though the list is not exhaustive and we can offer in depth bible study on any specific subjects you might wish to find answers to. You could want to talk about a specific word, some important verses, or other parts of the Bible with us. Regardless, we want to meet you and share the good news and follow the example of Jesus in his love, life and service for others.
