This week we hear a sermon from Mike Jarvis from the Gospel of John titled “Your Son Wil Live” as we continue our “Like-Minded In The One Gospel” sermon series. Join us for our Sunday service as we celebrate, worship, take communion together.
Worship is lead by Scott & Rachelle Galloway and featuring worship teams from various sister churches.
Message Summary
There are some somewhat strange things that need to be explaned about this passage.
- Why is Jesus intentionally going to where he is not honoured (Jn 4:42, Jn 1:11).
- Why do the Galileans welcome him, but yet dishonour him?
- How do they “believe” in him, but somehow don’t believe?
The whole passage prompts the question: what is the difference between a sign-seeker, and a saviour-seeker?
Here we look at some challenges that over-familiarity with Jesus can bring to our lives, if we are not careful. Some kinds of wrong-thinking can minimise his grace, and others can minimise his power.
Jesus is provoked at the false faith he finds in Galilee, but against that backdrop, still decides to heal a boy.
Jesus heals, with a word.
