THE RICHES OF GOD’S GRACE
This sermon is about the four ‘priceless gifts’ mentioned in Ephesians 1
Ephesians is one of the “prison letters” which Paul the apostle wrote whilst in captivity in Rome. As such, we can also consider that it in some way relates to us in “lockdown”. Paul’s movements were more restricted than ours, but he was able to have some people come and visit him.
In this sermon, Chris Broom challenges us to think, what is our message from lockdown? We need to get the message of the gospel out in any way we can. This might involve changing something which he calls “stinkin’
thinking”. This leads to the truth that without gratitude, we can never see the riches of God’s grace.
The four priceless gifts are,
FATHER – will never leave us, v3.
FORGIVENESS – through the blood of Jesus – v7
FAMILY – the family of God’s holy people – vv15-18, and
FUTURE – in this age and the age to come – vv21,22.
If we focus on these, we will have a great antidote to stinking thinking and have gratitude as our attitude.
