Message Summary & Reflection
In the previous chapter Paul is expressing something we all can relate to; what we want to do we do not do and what we do is not what we want to do. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it?
1. Life-giving spirit
In chapter 7 Paul teaches us that the law of God is good, it is holy, righteous and good. But it is wounded by us (by our sinful fleshly nature brought about by the fall of Adam and Eve).
Romans 8 tells us there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ, the spirit gives life and has set us free.
2. Power of the spirit
The spirit has freed us from sin and empowered us to overcome our sinful nature. God’s Spirit changes us and humbles us. Let’s ask ourselves: Am I walking in step with the spirit? Am I allowing the spirit to transform me?
The spirit will remind us of who we are and where we come from. Do we walk according to the spirit or do we walk on our own?
3. The spirit will lead us home
God wants to lead us to internal life, by letting the spirit lead us we become children of God and co-heirs with Christ. When we turn to God, God transforms us, and He will help us to be set apart from the worlds way.
Let’s let the mind be governed by the spirit. In return, we will experience a life-giving spirit, the power of the spirit and we will be led home to God by the spirit.
