The Gospel Must Go – Sunday Service (18th February 2024)

This week we start our new sermon series on the Book of Acts. Chris C will share a message titled “The Gospel Must Go…” from Acts 1:1-11. Join us for our Sunday service as we celebrate, worship, and take communion together.

Worship is led by Simon Phillips of our Glasgow Church worship team.

Message Summary & Reflection

We are starting our new series from the Book of Acts.

Acts 1:1-11 – The author of Acts was Luke, who also wrote the gospel of Luke. He was a doctor and initially wrote about his investigation into what had happened around the time of Jesus’ death and resurrection. Luke was a spectator and found many eyewitnesses and cooperated evidence. (Luke 1:1-4)

But something important happened I his investigation. Acts 16:6-10 – Third person becomes first person. Luke goes from looking into the story to becoming part of the story.

Luke stepped into the mission call and became part of the adventure. Are you a spectator or an active participant? The book of Acts was not just for the Apostles; it is the call to every disciple. Are you hearing it? Luke heard it as he investigated and wrote himself into the story.

Matthew 28:16-20 -This is our mission. In Acts 1:4-5 they were asked to wait for the Holy Spirit. As disciples we have the Holy Spirit deposited to us when we repented and were baptised for the forgiveness of our sins. God wants us to live out the mission, relying on his strength, his empowerment. The Holy Spirit is there to help us overcome our sin, our temptations.

Am I living my life as if I believe I have the same power in me that rose Jesus from the dead? We are called to be witnesses. What kind of witness are you? Is your life a witness to God’s transforming power of salvation?

The gospel must go – be sure to be part of the adventure carried by God’s Spirit.
