Rahul Nanjundan will share a message called “He Must Become Greater I Must Become Less” from John 3:30 as we enjoy the next in our “Boast in the Lord” monthly sermon series. Join us for our Sunday service as we celebrate, worship, and take communion together.
Worship is led by Simon Phillips of our Glasgow Church worship team.
Message Summary & Reflection
As we continue our “Boast in the Lord” series, we will focus on how we make God greater in our lives and what it looks like.
John 3:26-30 – This is the attitude we should have in our lives. We want to be known by God and make God known. We can only know how to do this if we know what he desires.
1. Greater Faith
Mark 6:1-6
We can have great faith when we trust God and we can have little faith when we don’t. In order to know if someone is trustworthy, we need to be vulnerable. We can trust with a little or we can trust with a lot. If we are not vulnerable before God, we do not give God the opportunity to show us He is trustworthy. Without strong faith, God’s power is limited and diluted. Lack of trust makes God lesser in our lives.
Matthew 8:5-10
The Centurion had more faith than the Jews in Jesus’ hometown. The Centurion understood that Jesus had more authority than himself. Faith is about living! Do you live it? Are you putting your faith into action?
James 2:14-23
If your faith doesn’t change your way of life, you’re not really believing in God, because you’re not living it. Faith and action work together. Faith is made complete by action. Faith is not faith unless it moves us.
2. Greater Humility
Humility is not thinking less of yourself but thinking of yourself less. (C.S.Lewis)
Luke 5:1-7
Simon realised who Jesus was. Do you remember who Jesus is? Do you remember whom you are doing it for? Whatever God commands of us, you can be sure he has a plan.
John 13:12-17
Are you asking people in your life: “what can I do for you? How can I be of service?” Jesus gave us an example to follow. Are you following his example?
Think about your week ahead. Have you made your plans revolving around God? Or are they revolved around what you want to do without considering God in it? How much around you such as social media are you letting distract you?
If you want God to become greater in your life, you’ve got to become less. Let’s grow in this as we grow in greater faith and grow in greater humility.
