Foundation on The Rock – Matthew 7:24
I have read this passage many times in my life, it’s a story I’m very familiar with.
However, Simon’s sermon made me really assess if I am building my foundation on Christ and his teachings. It’s so easy to get into the routine of doing things because I’ve been doing them for a long time, things like going to church or helping with the set-up.
Things can become a chore and I can forget about giving to others out of gratefulness.
Simon’s question about “how is my desire to put God’s word into practice?” made me really think about shifting my perspective from giving to people to giving to God.
It’s easy to listen and not to do, to not change, to be the builder in Matthew 7:26-27. It’s important for myself that I don’t treat God’s word this way, that I am listening and putting his word into practice. I want to build a house that stands against the storms, that stands against what life throws at me.
