Join us for a special Easter Sunday celebration as we commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ and His victory over death and sin. Mike Jarvis will share a sermon message titled “Because Jesus Rose” from Matthew 28:1-10, when Jesus rises on the third day after his crucifixion.
This week’s service is part of our 2025 theme, exploring the Miracles of the Bible, which helps us grow in faith and deepen our understanding of God’s profound love for us.
Andy Gould, Lesley Gould & Shona Tootill will lead our worship, creating a meaningful atmosphere of praise.
Adam Birr will share the communion message, guiding us as we gather at the foot of the cross to remember Christ’s sacrifice.

Beginning with Matthew 28:1–10, we see the resurrection not just as a historical event, but as the very heart of the Christian faith. From the fear of the guards to the joy and worship of the women, the empty tomb speaks of God’s power to overturn despair with hope.
Point 1: We Are Saved Because Jesus Rose
Through a reflection on Mary Magdalene’s healing and transformation, we see that salvation isn’t about religion, but relationship. Like Mary, many of us have been healed and made whole by Jesus’ grace. He begins with us—calling us to repent, be changed, and help others do the same. It’s a personal and powerful work that no other teacher or prophet can offer.
Point 2: Our Circumstances Are Changed Because Jesus Rose
God redeems brokenness—even long-standing or generational pain. Testimonies like Marie’s highlight that God listens to prayers throughout the years. His mercy extends beyond childhood innocence to adult failure, offering heaven through the cross and resurrection.
Point 3: Our Whole Lives Are Changed Because Jesus Rose
The Spirit that raised Jesus now works in us. Through stories of strained relationships made new, we are reminded that resurrection life means forgiveness, vulnerability, and trust. We’re called to participate in healing and to walk in restored unity.
The sermon ends with three challenges: surrendering to Jesus if we haven’t, praying for others to find new life, and allowing God to heal our relationships. Romans 6:4 reminds us that because He rose, we too can live a new life—starting now.

Matthew 28:1-10 – Jesus Has Risen
After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.
There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.
The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”
So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”
