Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them,
because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

Core Beliefs

1) DOCTRINE

--- Below is a non-exhaustive summary of our beliefs. It is our belief that any attempt to condense the perfect word of God into a few sentences will be flawed, hence we provide the text below only to inform those who would be helped by a brief summary of our beliefs. We love talking about the Bible, so if you wish to discuss further please contact us. ---

  • Belief in Jesus as the son of God - "the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of [God's] nature" (Heb 1:3)
  • Jesus is the way the truth and the life (Jn 14:6) - no one comes to the father except through Him.
  • The bible is the perfect Word of God (2 Tim 3:16; Ps 19:7) and is central to man's understanding of God. (Jn 12:48 - "He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day.)
  • We should be motivated by Grace (1 Cor 15:10), as everyone is a sinner (Rom 3:23), rather than legalistic duty (Isa 28:13)
  • Faith comes through hearing the message (Rom 10:17)
  • God's gift to mankind is salvation, and this is by faith (Eph 2:8), but not by faith alone (Jas 2:24)
  • It is God's will that men should "repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds" (Ac 26:20)
  • Man can claim God's salvation by being "cut to the heart" by his sin, repenting and being baptised in the name of Christ Jesus for the forgiveness of sins, thus receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38)
  • The Holy Spirit living spiritually within the disciple is the only way the Bible claims that the modern Christian can be guaranteed his inheritance as one of God's redeemed (Eph 1:13,14)
  • The Christian life must be characterised by perseverance and continually renewing one's love for God and man (Rev 2:3-5; 2 Pe 1:5-8), but this will be richly rewarded in heaven (Rev 2:7)

+++ We consider as our brothers and sisters in Christ all believers holding to these basic tenets of doctrine, within and outwith our local congregation +++

2) COMMITMENT

Our fellowship expects a basic level of commitment from our brothers and sisters in Christ. We respect that God is the ultimate judge and that his word will judge us at the Last Day. However, to maintain joy, peace and unity in the fellowship, we ask that members of our church make at least the following commitment...

  1. Holding to the Bible as the inerrant Word of God. This will help us to know the truth and set us free (Jn 8:31,32)
  2. Holding to the doctrines of salvation as described above.
  3. To have personal quiet time with God, daily where possible (Ps 119)
PURPOSE: TO FULFILL THE GREATEST COMMANDMENT
  4. To have an eagerness to eradicate sin in ones life and to be open about struggles. (Pr 27:17; 2 Tim 3:16,17; Jam 5:16)
PURPOSE: TO FULFILL THE FIRST AND SECOND COMMANDMENTS.
  5. To make a committment to serving one another in the church. (1 Jn 3:16,17; Rom 12:5-13)
PURPOSE: TO FULFILL THE SECOND MOST IMPORTANT COMMANDMENT
no critical attitudes to others trying.
  6. To be committed to winning lost souls for Christ. (2 Cor5:18-19; 1 Tim2:4; Matt 28:18-20)
  7. To assist in supporting the church financially, in accordance with one's means (Mal 3:10)

3) THE MOST IMPORTANT COMMANDMENT

Matthew 22:36-40 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?"
Jesus replied: "`Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: `Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
